Echoes Abyss was my fourth year project for my degree. Echoes Abyss was the response to a research question aimed around exploring the topic of immersion in 2D video games. The game was created with a small team of three where I took on the roles of Programmer, Designer, Technical Artist, and Writer. My main goal for Echoes Abyss was to create a mysterious and creepy atmosphere.- Studied a semester long research question based around immersion in games.
- Managed the project version control.
- Developed the projects code architecture and systems (C#).
- Developed the story and worked with our other designer on mechanics.
- Programming for various game mechanics.

A top down pixel art action adventure game, set in a fantasy world filled with elemental magic. You play as the orc grandson of tavern owners and go on quests and adventures to help defend the under-attack dragonfly tavern!You play as the grandson of two loving orc grandparents helping to run the tavern in an Orc Village. One day you discover from a town villager that the forest nearby has been suddenly set ablaze, your grandparents tells you of a water spell book hidden deep within a cave near their home, and sends you on a quest to retrieve the power and help defend their village against the fire critters and ultimately- the fire elf that set off the catastrophe.Dragonfly Tavern was my major project for my third year of my degree. During this project, I took on a leadership role of being the lead programmer.- Worked as a team lead and delegated tasks to our programming team.

- Created systems such as a dialogue system and customizable enemy state system.

The Legend of Robert: Future Shock (Game Jam)

Won the 'Best Use of Theme' award - one of three prize categories.A solo submission made for the Aotearoa Game Jam 2023 with the prompt: Old & New
Created while in isolation with COVID.
Play as Robert, an ordinary guy going for a quick stroll in the woods. Nothing out of the ordinary will happen (I may be lying).I really enjoy participating in game jams and love the fast paced nature and being able to have a finished product ready within small time frame.

A Village in Darkness (Game Jam)

Won the 'Best Use of Theme' award - one of three possible categories.A Village in Darkness is a first person adventure game. The areas around your village has been enveloped in darkness! Buy items and fight through enemies to activate each tower to restore the light.A solo submission for the 48hr Aotearoa Game Jam 2021.

Hello, my name's Eli and I'm a recent graduate of Massey University. I'm originally from way down in the south of New Zealand and moved to Wellington to study in order to pursue my passion of becoming a video game developer.I graduated recently with a Bachelor of Screen Arts with Honours, majoring in Game Development where I achieved first class honours.I've studied game development for four years spanning across multiple disciplines but primarily focusing on programming and game design. During my studies I have had the chance to work on multiple different large projects where I was able to hone my skills and learn how to collaborate well within a team of different development disciplines.I take pride in the work I have been able to produce and am very excited about being a part of some amazing new projects in the future.Check out my projects on my home page.
